Introduction

In my opinion, thefree graphic organizers that I've been finding recently on the Internet arelimited in variety and quality.

If you area regular visitor to Daily Teaching Tools, you may have noticed that two of thelast three pages I've added to this site along with this new page, have beendevoted entirely to graphic organizers.

Thishasn't been a coincidence.

I'm tryingmy best to offer you quality graphic organizers WITHOUT draining your wallet.

The freeones I'm offering on this page focus entirely on studying and analyzing. Along with the other free graphic organizersI've posted here on Daily Teaching Tools, there are now 85 availablealtogether.

Quick Key 2 0 – Text Expansion Graphic Organizer Organizers

Thefollowing graphic organizers are designed to reinforce and extend study andanalysis skills that will help kids to be more successful in your class.

In thisparticular section, there is an emphasis on comparing and contrasting, makingand analyzing observations, acquiring a thorough understanding of concepts, andextending and refining ideas.

Althoughthe screenshots you will see here have been reduced in size and in clarity, Ithink you'll be able to see the main headers, subheaders, and the overalldesign fairly well.

For thepurpose of making this page a little shorter, I am presenting all the graphicorganizers with the landscape layout in the form of short slideshows.

However, the organizers that were done in portrait style will have to be presentedindividually, as they get greatly reduced in size when placed in a slideshow.

Scrutiny 8 3 7 download free. Let's begin with the ones done in portrait style.

Here is a briefslideshow of the ones done in landscape style.

Author Study Maps

The twoorganizers in this section would be suitable for use with authors of all genresof literature.

If you'reconsidering doing an author study with your kids, you may find the informationpresented on this page to be useful.

Icebreakers

Although theseorganizers are specifically designed to be used at the beginning of a newschool year, I would suspect that they could also be modified and used as anend of the year activity.

KWL Charts

The firstone in this section is the standard chart that we are all familiar with. I just put my own design spin on it.

The last three are seen less frequently, butthey do offer an additional dimension.

Main Idea and DetailsOrganizers

Except for the numberof spokes, these main idea ovals are identical. I resisted the urge to call them wheels for obvious reasons.

Note Taking Charts

These charts would beappropriate for taking notes on research projects as well as taking notes inclass.

TheCornell note takers that appear below are particularly effective forkinesthetic and visual learners. Theyoffer a simple way to mentally dialogue with the teacher.

Thesection on the right is for the actual class notes, and the section on the leftis for occasional summarization.

Promoters of this note taking system insist thatit helps students to focus more completely on the lesson.

Reading StrategiesWebs

These webs aredesigned to promote critical reading skills appropriate for use before, during, and after the reading takes place.

Think Pair ShareOrganizers

This is agreat way to encourage the exchange of ideas between study buddies that canthen be shared with the rest of the class. Everyone in class eventually has a turn to participate and contribute.

There aretwo versions:

Timeline Charts

These charts would beappropriate for anything that needs to be plotted on a timeline. The second one offers more room forelaboration, however.

Vocabulary Webs

These webs encouragethe acquisition and analysis of vocabulary. Four styles are included here.

Customizable GraphicOrganizers

Theseorganizers are customizable--you may type in the headers, subheaders, directions, and instructional material that best suit your needs.

I'veincluded these because sometimes predesigned forms are not entirely appropriatefor the task at hand.

This way,if you have a particular book title or a particular main topic that you want toappear in the organizer, you can go right ahead and type it in.

Eachcustomizable organizer displays areas shaded in blue--these are the areas thatyou may type what you wish.

Additionally, when the mouse pointer passes each of these shaded areas, a tool tip will popup briefly as you see in the yellow box here:

The customizableorganizer shown above, along with the six more shown below, are included inthis collection:

If thesegraphic organizers are fairly well received, I would be happy to design more ofthem in the near future.

General Graphic Organizers Worksheets

Learning organization techniques should not be a chore, but rather a process that everyone should grasp, understand, and implement into their lives. For example, if you're someone who is unorganized when it comes to bills, more than likely you have a hard time getting them paid by the due date. Another example might be with school work. If you're a student and you don't have an organization structure in place for taking and storing notes, then chances are you don't do very well with taking tests.

Organization is truly a skill. As a teacher, organization is a critical factor to how your day will go. You should put a few hours of into thinking about how you can better organize yourself from the moment the alarm goes off until your head hits the pillow.

Being well organized will help students and teachers both be productive in and out of the classroom. You will eliminate stress, and save time by demonstrating organizational skills. Efficiency will take on a whole new meaning, and you will notice that you're more calm because your life won't seem so out of control.

Once you have yourself day organized it is time to look at how to better organize and focus your students. A great way to do this is first to look at your class from their eyes. What obstacles and challenges must they over come? What can you share with them that would make those obstacles not as tall of an order? You can help them learn to study.

Now look at your individual lessons. What can you do to make large amounts of information digestible? Textexpander 5 1 1. Easy, graphic organizers! You might have heard the old saying 'A picture is worth a thousand words!' It surely is true. Helping students learn the ins and outs of graphic organizers are key. You should always assume that they have no idea what the organizer tells them. Take a minute to explain what you see and they should see too.
